We can't all score a try at Twickenham, but this experience at least lets you play out some of your rugby dreams. Your experience starts when you meet Bath, England and British Lions legend Gareth Chilcott. After a tea or coffee, Gareth will take you on a tour of Twickenham, including the England team dressing room, the Royal Box, the players' tunnel and even the hallowed turf from the pitch side (we challenge you not to imagine you're running out to the roar of the home crowd!). Then visit the interactive Museum of Rugby, which houses the most extensive collection of rugby memorabilia in the world. Along the way, you'll have plenty of time to get playing tips from Gareth, as well as some insider gossip - Gareth is full of funny stories and anecdotes. Dare you to call him Cooch.

29040348 Inside Track to Horse Racing for Two

Very few spectator sports are quite so thrilling as horseracing (and not just because you've put a week's wages on at 33-1). But an incredible amount of hard work goes into racing before the horses even get to the racecourse, and you'll get a glimpse of it during your morning with top racehorse trainer Charlie Mann at his Lambourn stables, in the heart of horse racing country. You'll have an early start - but at least the experience begins with a hearty farmhouse breakfast with Charlie and one of his jockeys. Then you'll head out to the gallops, where you'll watch the horses being put through their morning training session. You'll learn about the training and groundwork that it takes to turn a horse into a champion - and get some tips on spotting a winner. Charlie has trained over 400 winners and can answer all your questions. We can't guarantee that it will turn your donkeys into dead certs, but we can guarantee a morning of enjoyment and insight.

Coarse Fishing

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

29040347 Coarse Fishing

Bob James is about as close to celebrity as the angling world gets - his uncanny knack of catching fish where others fail has made him one of the most successful anglers of his generation. Fortunately for us, he's also a great communicator and the perfect person to help you improve your angling skills. Your day will start with coffee, a tackle talk and an informal QandA session with Bob. Then you'll head out to the riverbank, where you can watch and learn as Bob demonstrates some of his angling techniques. Then you'll break for a cold buffet lunch, and soon it's your turn. You'll tackle up, get a feel for the equipment and grab some last-minute tips before getting started. You'll have the run of three and a half miles of the River Kennet, carriers and side streams at this private fishery, and the chance to catch a great variety of fish including trout, perch, pike, roach, grayling, bream, dace and chub. Bob will be on hand throughout with more help and advice. Happy fishing!

Friday, December 25th, 2009

29041916 Intermediate Full Day Golf Masterclass with a PGA Pro for Two

Let's be honest, golf is not an easy sport to master. There is nothing terribly intuitive about hitting a tiny ball with a long stick, so even experienced players can sometimes benefit from some coaching - and with this experience we're confident that your game will come on in leaps and bounds (or should that be drives and putts?). Your day starts with a three hour session with a golf professional, covering all aspects of set up and basic swing techniques. This is followed by an analysis of your performance, either by video or using Explanar, a unique swing training system. After a well-earned lunch you'll practise chipping, bunker play and putting. The itinerary may change slightly on the day, depending on the standard of the participants, but we guarantee that you'll end up better golfers! You'll also have access to an email golf helpline service for the three months following your experience (maximum six emails each).

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

29041870 Golf Lesson with a PGA Golf Pro and 18 Holes

Let's be honest: golf is not an easy sport to master. There is nothing terribly intuitive about hitting a tiny ball with a long stick. So even experienced players can sometimes benefit from a bit of coaching. With this experience at a Marriott Hotel and Country Club you'll get just that - plus the opportunity to play 18 holes on a superb course. You'll start off by having an assessment of your game from one of the golf professionals, followed by an intensive lesson. Depending on numbers on the day, this will either be an hour-long lesson in a small group, or a 30 minute one-to-one lesson. After this chance to brush up on your technique, you're free to enjoy a round of golf. Each country club has a championship course, and many have hosted prestigious tournaments. Some clubs have two golf courses, you will play the resort's course or the championship course (depending on availability). For the next three months you'll be able to use the email golf helpline service (maximum six emails).

Four Star Overnight Golf Break for Two

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

29041869 Four Star Overnight Golf Break for Two

The only better way to unwind than enjoying a break at a luxury hotel is enjoying a break at a luxury hotel with a round of golf thrown in. And that's what you'll get with this relaxing break for two. Your experience includes one night accommodation in a double or twin room at one of a selection of Marriott country club hotels, all of which are renowned for their warm welcome, luxurious atmosphere and idyllic location. Also included are breakfast, dinner, and - of course - a round of golf. All of the country clubs have at least one championship golf course, and some have played host to top golfing events. Bring your own clubs if you have them or prehire them from the hotel (this costs £15 to £35, depending on venue). Don't worry if one of you doesn't play golf: the golfer can play two rounds, and the non-golfer can do some serious relaxing back at the four star hotel.

Beginner's Full Day Golf Masterclass with a PGA Pro

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

29041856 Beginner's Full Day Golf Masterclass with a PGA Pro

Golf isn't a sport that a beginner can try without any coaching first, and lessons from your best mate or your other half is a recipe for golf clubs at dawn. So this experience at a Marriott Golf Academy is a perfect introduction to the sport. You'll start off with a coffee before heading to the academy or the driving range, where you'll spend the morning working on your basic swing. After a break for lunch, you'll then be taught the short game ('short' refers to the length of the shot, not the length of the game), including chipping and putting. The golf pros will be on hand all day to help you develop your technique and swing, give advice on different types of shot and guide you through the mysteries of club selection. You'll also receive a copy of the specially-produced 'Learn to Play Golf' programme.
